An internship is a work experience programme that gives people workplace experience or an opportunity to practice work skills. The internship is a planned, structured and managed programme that provides work experience for a specific period, in this case for twelve months. It is a practical programme to assist with the continuous development of people for future appointment in the labour market. A mentor is assigned to support each intern to assist with skills development and growth in the working environment.
An internship can also benefit the employer who has an opportunity to get to know the intern and to establish whether the intern is employable in the business.
QASA in partnership with EDTP SETA have employed 8 interns for 2009/2010.
