Employers and recruitment officers are invited to join our virtual Employment Workshop on Thursday, 22 June 2023. The free-to-attend event will feature several speakers who will discuss the value proposition of employing people with disabilities, as well as provide some guidance on how best to accommodate people with disabilities.
Our first Workshop for 2023 was held in March. Speaking at the event, Lesa Bradshaw shared how “disability rich” businesses tend to succeed. By establishing disability confidence, businesses create a safe space for employees while empowering staff to better understand and engage with client with disabilities.
Her advice to businesses was to create an equal opportunity for people with disabilities to compete for the job that they want, rather than offering jobs that the employer believes the individual will succeed at. She said: “An employer’s job is to offer an equalised opportunity. It is the employee’s job to do the work to the employer’s standard.”
